Why I cannot cast my video to Roku TV?

Modified on Tue, 23 Jul at 10:35 AM

Roku devices support several audio file types including:

  • AAC (HE-AACv2, AAC-LC)
  • MP3
  • WAV (PCM)
  • AIFF
  • FLAC
  • ALAC

Additionally, Dolby Audio formats such as Dolby Digital (AC3) and Dolby Digital Plus (E-AC3) are also supported. For passthrough, DTS is the supported format.

For video content, the most commonly used audio codecs are AAC, AC3, E-AC3, and DTS. It is highly recommended that content with multichannel audio (such as 5.1 or 7.1 channels) be made available in Dolby Digital Plus (E-AC3). This is the preferred multichannel format for streaming on Roku's Dolby Digital Plus-enabled devices.

The supported bit rates for video range from 32-256 Kbps for AAC and 96-768 Kbps for AC3/E-AC3. If you're unable to cast these types of videos to your Roku TV via our app, please check the file format and bit rate of your video.
